Have you picked your 2024 word? Picking one word to guide your year is a rising trend, and there are social media posts everywhere with people telling their stories. This is my take and an answer to Speaking Bipolar’s January writing prompt:

“What is the biggest change you want to make to improve your mental health this year? Why? How will you do it?”

My word for 2024 is change. Here’s why.

Looking Back

My word for 2023, at least in the beginning, was growth. As the year progressed, growth turned into simplify.

I learned I couldn’t keep running 900 directions. I use most of my daily energy to work my day job as a tax preparer and to care for my aging parents. In my best weeks, I can buy out another 10–15 hours to create online content, but some weeks it’s only 1–2 hours.

The 2023 year started with me trying to post daily on every social media platform. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Threads, Mastodon, Pinterest, etc., I tried to be active on all of them. It was a recipe for disaster, and like a birthday…
