Spendee: when your money talks

We got in touch with one of our user, Krystyna from Poland, who switched from Excel to Spendee app year and a half ago. Read the interview to see what features she is using and how is she analyzing her expenses to get the most out of Spendee.

Krystyna, you have been using Spendee for more than a year now but I would like to know why did you start using it?

During my studies at the university in a new city and a new country, I needed to keep track of my finance. First, I started with a detailed Excel where I inputted all my expenses and I used a lot of colors and graphs to make the data more understandable. Thanks to this Excel I managed to save a really good sum of money.

However, after I got married, Excel wasn’t comfortable anymore for two people to manage our shared money.

What is your daily habit when it comes to Spendee?

It depends. Sometimes I note every transaction just a few minutes later but more often I prefer to do it at the end of every day.

What features in Spendee are you using — shared wallet, budgets, scheduled transactions, import, export, bank connection …

I like to use budgets because it gives me satisfaction when I see that I can control my expenses. Also, scheduled transactions are very useful because I don’t need to remember to write e.g. my scholarship or rent every month. But my favorite things in Spendee are graphs. I love to use and analyze them!️ ❤

You mentioned that you were able to save a lot of money during your studies — how did you do it?

It’s not a secret that we are able to spend more money when we use our credit cards… Probably it’s due to the fact that it’s not so easy to spend our “paper money”. But! If you start to note your ALL transactions, you will see that it’s no difference — money just go out — and you will naturally start to think twice before paying by card. I think that thanks to this I managed to save some money.

Do you always have a saving goal when it comes to money management or you just tracking the money even though you don’t want to buy anything special?

Basically, I just want to be sure that I can buy us some good things/food or to go to the cinema or concert. Apart from that, I want to have own small sweet home in the future. So it’s probably the biggest goal for me now. 🏠

What would you recommend to people when they are new to money management?

Download the Spendee app. 😀

But first of all, you should make a decision. And not to give up. Try to be systematic and (as for me) it’s really important to spend some time at the end of every month just to summarize your transactions and also you can buy some extra chocolate for you as the gift of your work and persistence.🍫

Thank you, Krystyna, for sharing your tips with others. If you want to share your Spendee story with others, send me an email to johana@spendee.com.
