The Future of Neighborhoods

As we’ve written previously, we believe the Metaverse will be built for and by online communities, representing a revolution in online creativity and a paradigm shift in our ability to truly “be together” online.

We’ve been hard at work building Stageverse’s core technology for years, and the upcoming Stage Land Sale is our way of finally bringing the community in for the journey — and we’re excited!

We have big plans for the Stage, it represents the Stageverse community and will be the starting point for Stageverse experience. First, as the primary discovery layer for experiences in Stageverse through the Stage Map, and ultimately, as an explorable open world of its own.

Neighborhoods will play an important role here as a way for Landowners to join forces on the Stage, collaborate, build together, and form unique community identity.

As of this writing, Neighborhood Registration is currently live , and will close this week prior to the start of the upcoming Presale Mint, which is scheduled for Sunday, July 24, 2022 @ 3PM PST / 6PM EST.

Right now is the community’s opportunity to create their Neighborhoods and access the Presale Mint — only a few days left, don’t miss out!

With the Presale Mint imminent, we wanted to take a moment and touch on our plans for Neighborhoods in the coming months and beyond.

As always, this is a tentative roadmap based on current thinking — we’ll be agile in our development approach and look forward to incorporating the community’s voice along the way.

Neighborhoods: Roadmap V0

1. Neighborhood Registration

During the presale, we’re allowing prospective Landowners to create and join Neighborhoods with their community to get on the presale list and to ensure they’re placed together on the Stage when metadata is assigned.

While minted Land plots will be randomly assigned metadata (read: location) on the Stage, Neighbors in a given Neighborhood will be placed adjacent to one another.

2. Neighborhood Reveal

Shortly after the Land Sale, metadata will be revealed and Landowners will finally get to see where their Plots sit on the Stage.

As part of the reveal, we’ll launch v0 of our interactive Stage map. This is a product in its own right and will become an important component within the Stageverse ecosystem, serving as the main entry point for exploring and discovering experiences across Stageverse. Our aim for the Stage itself is that it ultimately evolves into a massively multiplayer, open world, but the Map will be the main way users interact with Land and discover Spaces in the meantime.

On the Map, Landowners will be able to view and customize their plots with custom PFP images and view their Neighborhood affiliations.

3. Neighborhood Evolution

Sometime after reveal, we’ll launch the ability for Neighborhoods to evolve beyond their initial configuration as set during Neighborhood Registration. Neighborhoods will be able to expand and grow by inviting and accepting new members. They may also shrink as Landowners leave to form new Neighborhoods of their own. The Stage will become a living breathing garden of micro communities evolving and interacting with one another. Each Landowner will have full autonomy to choose which, if any, local Neighborhood they affiliate with.

4. Neighborhood Identity & Branding

Neighborhoods will be able to express their community identity and pride through custom branding on the Stage Map. Larger Neighborhoods will enjoy more prominence and enhanced discovery for their Spaces.

5. Neighborhood Social Hubs

Neighborhoods will be able to create community-owned Hub Spaces accessible from the Stage Map. These might take many forms, members-only clubhouses, public lobbies and exhibits, or curated jumping off points to explore the rest of what the Neighborhood has to offer.

6. Neighborhood DAOs.

While initially each Neighborhoods will be controlled by its founder, and eventually anybody they delegate authority to, we want to build towards Neighborhoods organizing and conducting their activities in a more decentralized manner as decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs).

7. Open World

With the launch of open traversability, Neighborhoods will take their final form as unique, explorable community districts within the Stage. The goal is that the Stage becomes a vibrant and diverse world of unique Neighborhoods, building and growing together as communities.

8. Creator Economy & Ecosystem Rewards

We know economic incentives are critical to rewarding creativity in the Metaverse. As we begin designing the Stageverse’s creator economy, we’re playing around with the idea of ecosystem rewards tied directly to Neighborhoods participation and creation — as a reward for those who drive exceptional value to the broader Stageverse economy. Very preliminary thinking — but wanted to share as a window into what might be to come down the road!

We’ve written previously about the broader roadmap for the Stageverse ecosystem. As always, we’ll be balancing priorities carefully and taking a methodical, agile approach to development across all workstreams, including Neighborhoods. We look forward to gathering feedback and incorporating the community’s voice along the way.

And a reminder — the Presale Mint starts Sunday, July 24, 2022 @ 3PM PST / 6PM EST. You can find more information on the Presale Mint here.

If you haven’t done so already, make sure you register or join a neighborhood ahead of then to access the Presale; and join us on Discord for Mint announcements!

Thanks for being with us on this journey!
