Ready? Set? Battle! Launching the 2018 pitch battles

Only eight of our startups will make it to the final battle, the GEN Summit 2018, where they’ll pitch in front of 750+ editors-in-chief and media innovators. Let the games begin!

The Global Editors Network, in partnership with Journalism.co.uk, is launching the next phase of its Startups for News competition: the pitch battles.

Every week, from 1 March until the end of April, the video presentations and profile interviews of two startups working on a similar theme will be posted on our website and here on Medium. The public and the jury will vote for their favourite startup. A 50/50 combination of the jury and the public vote will determine the winner of the battle.

The 8 winning startups will participate in the Startups for News Final which will take place at the GEN Summit 2018 in Lisbon. At the GEN Summit, they will have the opportunity to pitch in front of 750 editors-in-chief and media professionals from over 70 countries.
