Kinitting in Early Modern Europe
Note from the editor

My name is Jane Malcolm-Davies and I am currently a Marie Skłodowska Curie Fellow at the Centre for Textile Research at the University of Copenhagen. I am researching knitting in the early modern era (KEME) with particular emphasis on men’s caps. I am co-director of The Tudor Tailor, which provides publications and other resources to help the accurate reconstruction of historic dress. I can knit but I‘m no expert. I can shear sheep but haven’t done it recently. I am aiming to combine scientific investigation of the evidence for 16th century knitting with experimental archaeology. This is my on-going report on my fellowship experiences and research programme.
