Sports are unique in culture. They often have a cult-like following: games are talked about in bars, at work and even the media dedicate large sections to the latest matches, contracts, and managers. Football alone has 3.5 billion fans worldwide, making it the world’s most loved sport. Modern sports fans are demanding more interactive experiences than ever, and not just from the matches themselves. They want to experience the culture of the sport.

And any team sport has the potential to be a fantasy sport, making their fans potential fantasy gamers.

The Growth Of Fantasy Sports

Fantasy sports have been recorded in one form or another since shortly after World War II, starting with fantasy golf. By the late 1990s, boosted by the web, fantasy sports spanned football, American football, basketball, baseball, hockey, cricket, and more. Today, the FSTA estimates that the average fantasy gamer spends 3 hours per week managing their chosen fantasy team.

A study by Ipsos Marketing for the Fantasy Sports Trade Association revealed that as of 2017 fantasy sports grew to a $7 billion industry in North America alone, where there are 59.3 million fantasy sports players. The number of players has been steadily growing and increased by 3.3% from 2016. This doesn’t account for millions more fantasy sports players worldwide — and the huge potential for growth.

The FSTA reports that fantasy sports players, when compared to the average population, are younger, better educated, with higher household incomes and more likely to have full-time employment. The average player spends over $650 annually on fantasy sports.

The demand for quality fantasy sports is clear. Football has the world’s biggest fanbase, and was the obvious choice for Stryking’s first fantasy sports game. Designed to be the best fantasy football experience for fans to test their team management skills, Football-Stars has experienced continual growth as a platform.

The Potential Of Fantasy Sports

The rapid growth of fantasy sports is driven by fantasy gamers and their desire to connect to their favourite sports on a whole new level. The future of fantasy sports lies in making the experience even more user-centric.

STRYKZ tokens will incentivise users of Football-Stars to create the majority of the content, turning Football-Stars into the first ‘decentralised’ user-centric fantasy sports platform. Football-Stars is evolving into a community driven platform, where players can design challenges and other content instead of relying on game developers to design content or pay-out winnings. The winnings and rewards on Football-Stars will either still be in Coins and Stars (the existing in-game currencies) or in STRYKZ tokens. STRYKZ as a reward will only be available to win in user-generated challenges in a peer-to-peer environment. The creators of challenges and other content, such as articles for the fan page, could also be rewarded with STRYKZ.

With football legend Luís Figo and experienced manager Thomas Kroth on our advisors board, we have an expanding global network to build the best fantasy sports experience. To add to our Bundesliga license and PaaS, we are building partnerships with clubs, teams and leagues across the globe. The Football-Stars platform can be adapted to other fantasy sports, too.

STRYKZ will power the next level of fantasy sports. The public token sale is currently ongoing until July 29, 2018 at 11:59:59 CEST. Get all the details and participate on the STRYKZ website, and help build the future of fantasy sports!
