Hello SwissBorg Community! We are three third-year students from the four-year program for a Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality/Service Management at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL). As part of our curriculum, we were given the opportunity for a six-month administrative internship at SwissBorg, in the Business Development (Hyun Soo Kim & Jean-Paul Bourquin) and the Marketing/Events departments (Emma Laroche) respectively.

Our principal roles within the company as Business Development Analysts were acquiring and taking leads and transforming them into opportunities for growth, as well as creating a long term value for SwissBorg and helping develop projects. To be more specific, Jean-Paul and I were responsible for the daily support of the SwissBorg community via Intercom, Salesforce and Zendesk (customer messaging/relationship management platforms), as well as the Korean community management, creation of a knowledge base centre, qualification and follow up on business leads, and organisation and planning of events. Emma was part of the Marketing and Events Management team were for six months she was responsible for digital marketing as well as social media posts, events management and communication.

Perks of Working at SwissBorg

Working at SwissBorg made us realise the importance of diverse and open-minded corporate culture and a positive working environment. The founders of SwissBorg like to practice an employee-friendly corporate culture where everyone is treated equally with mutual respect in an incredibly collaborative and friendly work environment. SwissBorg’s healthy corporate, or rather, team culture allows for each employee in the team to feel valued regardless of his or her job duties and position. Consequently, employees at SwissBorg work incredibly well as a team to meet the company’s and their own needs.

Working at SwissBorg, we have come to understand why a healthy corporate culture is imperative for a business to be successful. It improves the performance of a company in numerous aspects such as employee retention, productivity and quality by allowing the employees to have a positive and high moral attitude. The co-founders put a significant emphasis on increasing intrinsic motivation for the employees by offering perks from discretionary CHSB bonuses to flexible working hours. All employees are free to determine their daily work schedule between 6:00 am to 8:00 pm to fulfil the employee’s work and OKRs.

Team building climbing outing

SwissBorg has a horizontal organisational structure in which the employees are empowered and given the authority to contribute to business decisions without micromanagement. SwissBorg practices a Laissez Faire management system where leaders are “hands off” this helps them and the team grow mutually. SwissBorg is a team, or rather, a family of professionals from diverse geographic, social, ethnic and gender identities working with mutual respect towards shared goals.

At the very start of our internship, a team building was organised by SwissBorg in order for the employees to get to know each other. It was a great way to commence our six-month internship and to connect with everyone and learn about everyone’s individual values and cultures in a different setting through a series of planned team bonding activities.

September: Geneva Blockchain Unchained Event

Blockchain Unchained was conference aiming to make blockchain technology understandable and accessible to the general public and to raise awareness of how this new technology could be used in a myriad of businesses and banking ventures. We had the chance to organise, promote and assist in all aspects of the pre-conference preparation and during the event. BU also allowed us to engage in networking and community building with crypto experts and pioneers.

December: Community Ambassador Program

To improve our connection with our vast community of SwissBorg token holders and to enforce the concept of meritocracy, we launched the Community Ambassador Program. With the aim of giving the opportunity to the best and most engaged and dedicated members to act as ambassadors between the SwissBorg team and the community, the primary role of the ambassadors was to manage and develop our community in their respective cities, countries, and regions.

December: OKEx 99Ex Conference in Seoul, Korea

In December, SwissBorg Asia team’s Ken Yagami, Amber Chook, and I (Hyun Soo Kim) joined OKEx & 99EX 2-day Conference in Seoul to present SwissBorg with blockchain industry leaders in Asia. It was two days packed with fruitful meetings with Korean media, VCs, and high-quality projects. Not only did we created new partnerships and strengthened relationships with our Korean CHSB Holders, but we also discovered many projects and potential business prospects for SwissBorg’s ecosystem.

The following day, Risa Suzuki (Japan marketing manager) and Jean-Paul met up with potential media partners to discuss the current market and strategy to expand in Korea.

What We Learned and Achieved During Our Internship

During our internship at SwissBorg, we gained and improved many competencies and skills such as professional writing skills, project management/event coordination skills and having an entrepreneurial mindset that will help us in our future ambitions and endeavours.

Words do not suffice to express how grateful and appreciative we are for the opportunity to work at SwissBorg for the past six months. We want to thank SwissBorg for having confidence in us to serve as Business Development Analysts and Marketing Interns. We have gained valuable insight and skills, and wish SwissBorg the best of luck, certain that it will become the best and most prominent crypto wealth management platform in the world.
