Introducing Tachyon VPN Network: How to sell bandwidth on Tachyon and earn rewards?
Tachyon Protocol (IPX)’s VPN service, Tachyon VPN, has burst into the VPN scene with a unique global bandwidth marketplace that allows anyone to become a VPN service provider. In this article we will introduce how to become a service or Node Provider on the Tachyon VPN network and offer traffic to users. Node Providers basically sell bandwidth for internet use and as a result will earn session rewards for the service they provide. These rewards will be funded by users when they purchase bandwidth and the transactions happen using Tachyon’s native token, IPX. Node Providers currently earn staking rewards for locking IPX in their wallets which is a prerequisite for becoming a service provider on the network. Staking is what provides security to the Tachyon VPN network while the open marketplace will ensure availability of high quality traffic with optimal pricing.
At this moment, users are getting VPN service for free and that is effectively testing the robustness of the system. Once the marketplace goes live, bandwidth trading using $IPX between users and Node Providers will start. So how to become a Node Provider? There are two ways. Join staking on Platform Partners like IPXUS or using Node Manager2.0. For beginners, using a platform partner is more convenient while experts can set up their own nodes using the manager platform. Tachyon will also be offering a Legal Assistance System to all Node Providers in Node Manager 3.0 further down the line. Node Manager 2.0 has already been released last month. Tachyon is now planning the release of the IPX Payment system which will be the last piece of the global bandwidth marketplace.
Using Platform Partner IPXUS
One of the easiest ways to deploy nodes and stake IPX on the Tachyon VPN network is using a Platform Partner like IPXUS. Using it requires zero technical skills and setting up takes minutes if IPX tokens are readily available in a wallet.
To get started, simply sign up on the website, stake IPX tokens in your wallet, choose from available node options and you will start receiving rewards right after. It’s that simple. Staking can be cancelled anytime in a click. Detailed steps for using IPXUS are available here. In the backend, IPXUS uses Node Manager 2.0 to manage servers, traffic and rewards.
Using Node Manager
Node experts can use the Node Manager directly to set up shop on the Tachyon network. It is deployed locally on Node Provider’s device and works like a web app. Detailed steps on getting started with the Node Manager from macOS, Windows and Linux systems are available here. IPX is a token on the V Systems blockchain. So make sure to have a small amount of VSYS (as little as 0.25 VSYS) for the wallet verification step. Once the nodes are set up, the more traffic your machine attracts, the more session rewards it earns in IPX. Session rewards are paid per block of bandwidth or per 5MB of session offered.
For running nodes, a wallet needs to stake 20,000 IPX per node. Each node earns ~20 IPX daily as session rewards which are the direct payoffs for offering bandwidth. Additionally, it also earns ~3.3 IPX daily as staking rewards. The total reward imputes to ~30% Annual ROI at the moment. Please be noticed that rewards vary from different nodes which will be influenced by many factors like locations, servers’ type, users’ usage and so on. Currently, the session rewards are being provided from the Tachyon reserves. After the bandwidth marketplace goes live, they will be offered by users.
The Tachyon VPN bandwidth marketplace will be developed on the Fermat contract of V Systems blockchain platform. The details aren’t public yet. But what we can say is that IPX Payment and Staking will be integrated into Tachyon VPN. This will enable seamless bandwidth trading from the platform directly. Please stay tuned!
