I want to add value to people’s lives. Real value.

So let’s play a game. (insert Saw voice)

By the end of this post I’m going to convince you to start a blog.

That’s right, if I have my way you’ll actually create a blog this week.

Deal?

Bet.

Now that we’re on the same page…

Why should you even start a blog in the first place?

A Blog Gives You Hella Street Cred

YOU MIGHT BE.

When you share content that provides insights & solutions— you help people.

Over time, publishing useful content in any industry (especially tech) solidifies your spot as a thought leader. And this kind of leadership never fails to impress hiring managers.

You don’t have to be THE EXPERT on any topic, you just have to have an opinion. And be willing to share that in a thought provoking way!

“Committing to having a point of view and scheduling a time and place to say something is almost certainly going to improve your thinking, your attitude and your trajectory.”

The more you blog, the more people will start to take notice and agree.

Haven’t you read something that made you say,

“I’ve been saying that forever” Or “I was just saying the same thing!”

There’s probably millions of people who share your views on any given topic.

But you’re robbing the world of your gifts by not sharing.

The most amazing feeling is meeting people that only know you through your blog. Imagine bumping into that person.

Let me tell you, it’ll change your life.

When I meet people in person who’ve read Tech Dirty With Me

It’s usually like this! #FACTS

BLESS 🙏

Blogging can help you build some street cred in your industry and help you establish yourself in whatever niche you’re in.

Remember, you have amazing ideas.

So don’t keep them locked in your head!

A Blog Builds Your Skills & Your Brand

Why should you blog?

Build your brand & Build your skills.

That’s it!

Don’t lose sight of the purpose of starting your blog.

Because when you first start, no one’s going to read it!

Don’t blog to get something in return (e.g. likes, comments, kudos etc.).

Blog to add value and to gain skills.

“The daily blog is one of the top 5 career decisions I’ve ever made. Everyone should write a blog, every day, even if no one reads it. “— Seth Godin

Through blogging, you can sharpen a range of skills. Such as,

  • Writing & Content Creation(duh!)
  • Sales & Marketing (how else are people going to find out about it?)
  • SEO & Social Media Advertising (think Facebook Ads)
  • Analysis (using tools like Google Analytics)

The second you publish your first blog post you’ve used many of these skills.

And these are skills no company can ignore!

A good blog takes discipline, determination and ambition. All of which are needed to succeed in any industry.

Even if you have limited experience, blogging establishes you as a thought leader. And it demonstrates that you’re in touch with something that matters.

The skills you gain are crucial, but the exposure to people and companies you’ve never interacted with before is priceless!

This kind of exposure could lead to decision makers (like hiring managers, or recruiters) reaching out to you.

Build your brand blogging and before you know it opportunities and blessings will just start coming your way!

Blogging Unlocks Doors To Opportunity

Credit Eduard Mykhailov

This year blogging has opened doors for me that I couldn’t have previously imagined.

  • My writing was recently published in Daybreaker. A global community of 450K people worldwide dedicated to mindfulness, dance, and yoga.
  • And in January I attended the ngAtlanta conference for FREE! All because a speaker at the event had read my blog 😎

I was blessed with these opportunities simply because I put in the time to share my personality and passion through Tech Dirty With Me.

Be vulnerable. Share your truths. Oftentimes people will support and cheer you on even when you don’t believe in yourself.

“Everyone should blog, even if it’s not under their own name, every single day. If you are in public, making predictions and noticing things, your life gets better, because you will find a discipline that can’t help but benefit you.”

Plus, publishing a great blog post just feels good. Once you start a blog, You Own Digital Real Estate. And it feels damn good to “own a thing”.

Almost as good as a Lebron James 💪🏾chase down block.

Furthermore, we can often times be our own worse enemy.

So don’t block yourself! And consider how blogging my change your life.

Remember, a blog can help you build skills, build your brand, and unlock opportunities never previously possible.

C’mon son, seriously. It’s a no brainer ☝️🏾💡!

Still not convinced?
