Get ready to crave Arab street food like you never thought possible. Reem’s is the most recent eatery to join our local partnerships program! Like Red Bay Coffee and Merritt Ceramics, Reems is offering a 10% discount to our sustaining members when they visit the restaurant in East Oakland or find them at your local farmers market. If you’d like to access this discount as well as others, you can become a sustaining member here.

Reem Assil chats with customers in her Fruitvale bakery location.

Before Reem Assil founded Reem’s, she worked for a decade as a community and labor organizer. As we sat in her Fruitvale bakery sipping iced cardamom coffee (yeah, that’s a thing and it’s the best) she talked about wanting to build an establishment that would nurture strong and vibrant communities, and walk the walk on values she had been fighting for as an organizer. Reem’s is making a commitment to community building, social impact, and sustainability. Practices like hiring and sourcing locally, providing a living wage, and minimizing their carbon footprint make Reem’s the perfect business for us to partner with.

“We are excited for the opportunity to partner with Tech Equity and together enact our vision of what real responsible development looks like in the Bay Area.”

~Reem Assil, Founder

At Reem’s they see food as a medium for building community across cultures, generations, and experiences. Our shared commitment to building community is at the core of this partnership. Like Reem, we believe that building space for connections and awareness will create a stronger, more equitable Bay Area.

We’ll be communicating directly with our sustaining members on how they can access this discount. Reem’s also does catering. If your office has a happy hour or holiday party coming up and wants feature a great local business with food that meets everyone’s needs, send a note to info[at]reemscalifornia.com and let them know TechEquity sent you.
