RENEWABLE ENERGY STORAGE
Scientists debut promising material for solar energy storage for months
The purpose is to capture and store solar energy in summer months to be used later during “rainy days”
One of the biggest problems that scientists currently envision is how to store renewable energy. This becomes even more important for solar energy, which is the biggest form of renewable energy that is currently being deployed. Although solar panels have been traditionally used to harness the energy of the sun, researchers have also developed Anti-solar panels and Droplet-based Electricity Generator (DEG) — where the former generates energy during nighttime & the latter can do the same from raindrops.
They have even been studying a method whereby water vapor in the atmosphere can become a source of renewable energy. Until the time, they can be used in the real world, the best bet would be to have a reliable storage mechanism for solar energy. Since solar energy is the cheapest and most abundant of the currently available renewable energy sources, it would be a great benefit if we can store the energy to be used later for days when there is not enough sunlight.
