To say 2019 was an eventful year for the Telos Foundation, our amazing community, and the blockchain space as a whole would be a profound understatement.

Here are some of the major milestones we enjoyed as we made real progress toward a more tokenized world, organized around people’s shared sense of purpose:

First Quarter (January-March)

  • Telos ranks in the top three in transaction speed and volume among blockchains using a delegated proof of stake consensus method. As of mid-February, the Telos network is handling a seven-day average 3.6 million transactions per day, behind only WAX (5.2 million), and EOS (33.4 million).

Second Quarter (April-June)

  • Attended London Blockchain Expo.
  • Attended European Blockchain Expo in Amsterdam.

Third Quarter (July-September)

  • Board member Suvi Rinkinen selected as the Telos Foundation’s first CEO.
  • Telos announces partnership with the fintech company Carbon to launch a new stablecoin, TLOSD, backed by U.S. dollars. The new token is designed to function as a bridge between Telos and the world of fiat currency, enabling wider usage of Telos among developers and everyday users.
  • In August, the news site CoinDesk prominently quotes Douglas Horn, author of the original Telos whitepaper, in a post covering new blockchains that are forking from EOS. Among several projects mentioned in the article, CoinDesk writer David Floyd notes that Telos “appears to be the fork with the most momentum and support. For instance, several of its team members were involved in the EOS launch, and in more than one case, those people are helping build Telos while continuing to support the EOS network.”

Fourth Quarter (October-December)

  • Launch of dMail, a messaging app that brings email-like functionality to the Telos network.
  • Swiss startup Havuta, which makes mobile apps to help non-governmental organizations manage data regarding their aid programs, announces plans to deploy via the Telos network.
  • Attended Blockchain Expo in Silicon Valley
  • Attended Blockchain in Business Conference at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.
  • Attended Blockchain Roundtable Zurich at the University of St. Gallen.
  • Telos Foundation launches new branding effort, helped by the consulting firm decrypted. New branding includes a revamped logo, new design elements, and a new website (telos.net) to serve as a hub for the global Telos community.

As we enter 2020, the Telos community is well-positioned to build upon the above successes. We’re looking forward to further growth and more exciting innovations in the New Year, fueled by the hard work of so many brilliant developers, entrepreneurs, investors, and other network participants.

Thanks again to all who helped Telos get this far. We’re so eager to see what else we can accomplish together in the New Year.
