Welcome Back My Evolving Passengers:

The gang was back together for the weekend and while we had a great time, it felt a little awkward. Things have changed. We (me, Zeke and Rei) had gotten into a groove and adding Adam back into the mix felt a little crunchy…kind of like having a little sand in the gears.

We are heading the San Diego for SDSU family weekend on Friday which seems like overkill but everything is booked so we are going. I don’t remember seeing my family this much during my first semester of college (nor does Zeke) or having our parents be this involved. Adam is quite communicative which means we know a lot more than we are comfortable with and have to keep our mouths shut quite a bit.

We will be staying in a nice hotel with a nice pool (and bar) and there’s lots to do in San Diego. I am not sure how much time we are going to be spending on campus or at campus events. This is his gig, not ours. Adam is pledging a fraternity (which is also weird but he’s loving it!).

We’ve been invited to tailgate with his fraternity before the football game (which we aren’t going to) and to a brunch at the frat house Sunday morning. I’m a little nervous about the whole frat thing but he feels like he’s found his ‘boyz’ so I am not saying much.

Mornings are getting chilly and Zeke decided the top needed to go back on the Jeep (sad face emoji). It also means it’s time to focus on Halloween. Zeke brought the 12 bins of Halloween stuff from the storage space so Rei and I can start decorating and finalize plans for the annual scarefest.

This year’s theme is Monster Mashup because I want to use what we already have and not buy too much more. Guests will go from room to room visiting werewolves, Frankestinian monster failures (Jacqueline will be the mad scientist), vampires (Rei’s section), and zombies.

Last year’s crew for Nightmare on Grand Street

This is the time of year when I get to be sick and twisted and let my scary out in a socially acceptable way. Last year was Nightmare on Grand Street (pre-scare picture shown above). We are always looking for folks to scare with us for the night so let me know if you want to come play! We will have a taco bar for all and adult beverages for the 21+ crowd.

Prior year themes have been Fairy Tale Gone Bad, HELLThScare 2017, Zombie Café, and my favorite, Freakshow. And yes, all in our driveway. Zeke loves doing this (sarcasm anyone?)!

Piloting Your Life (the book)

Piloting Your Life (the book) was spotted in the Redwood City Main Library in the New Non-Fiction section. Of course I had to go take a picture and celebrated with a glass of bubbly at Cru in Redwood City where I wrote most of the book.

Launch is officially over! We celebrated with a party to thank the gals who contributed their stories to the book and my Flight Crew (launch team) who pre-ordered the ebook, wrote reviews, shared the book and events out on social media, and purchased books for their friends.

Donato generously opened up Cru for us on a Sunday and provided the food for the event. All of the raffle prizes were produced or sold by women or women-owned business (including me and my business). Special thanks to Fran Dunaway at TomboyX for donating two of the raffle prizes and Liz Klinger for giving me 50% off two Lioness connected vibrators for two lucky winners. Want one? Use promo code PILOT to get $25 off.

Now it’s time to focus on building and feeding the marketing machine for the book. I’m also noodling over my next book.

Piloting Your Life (the podcast)

One of the biggest challenges women face in midlife is around meaning, purpose and happiness. We are triggered and motivated to start asking questions about what we want in and out of life.

This week on Piloting Your Life (the podcast), I talk with Meha Agrawal of Silk & Sonder about meaning, purpose, happiness, clarity, and community. And why taking pen to paper is good for us. Enjoy!

Monthly Challenge

#LiftNotDrag 31 Day Challenge to uplift women. #TsunamiOfPositivity

We are one week into the challenge and the support for women has been beautiful to watch. I wrote about the challenge in a blog post and you can read it here. I am posting daily ideas on Twitter (@terrihansonmead), Instagram (@terrihansonmead), LinkedIn, Facebook, and Pinterest.

Enjoy your week and the fall weather.

Terri

P.S. Take the controls and be the pilot in your own life. It’s a beautiful day to fly, and you are cleared for takeoff.
