sun
heat wave
most days are
radiant smiles
on children’s faces
running through the sprinklers
jumping, slipping, sliding, oh!
time for lemonade and cookies
Gramma has them almost ready so
let’s dive in the pool, it’s time to be cool
splashing about, we play Marco Polo
bobbing and weaving in the water
on this long day, into the night
dusk falls, as do we, we’re tired
sun loses afterglow
it’s time to go home
watch the sky for
some quiet
playful
moons
