Building Climate-Positive
This article is part of “Building Climate-Positive”, a project diary for the research, design and construction of two micro units at Wally Farms, exploring hemp+lime construction and other methods to address the climate crisis with architecture.
Note from the editor

The Climate Action Lab is an experimental laboratory to explore architecture and urban design solutions that address the climate crisis. In early 2020, I started planning this project as an on-site workshop at Wally Farms, a research and teaching landscape in the Hudson Valley, dedicated to growing climate solutions. We have since moved so much of our lives online including this project diary of learning and teaching how to build a carbon-negative micro house, how to calculate embodied energy in building materials and why we should build smaller homes. The diary includes research, audio interviews, and drawings. All content is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0)
