Week 18: My Poet’s Path BYOB Challenge
Blogging your own book of poetry.

Tip from the Poet’s Path: Tracking your growth, development, and community can serve as a compass for your writer’s journey.
I am perplexed at how quickly the second quarter ended as I’m about to enter the third quarter of my BYOB Challenge. Like many writers, I faced a range of life issues this quarter, from everyday obligations to the tragic loss of a friend. Dealing with these issues, my BYOB project, The Grape Picker’s Daughter: A Book of Poetry, is behind schedule. However, I have stayed on course with my long-range writing goals.
Quarterly Progress Tracking:
As a writer and solopreneur, following my progress is a key element in evaluating my work. This process, commonly called tracking or simply assessing my progress, helps me evaluate my goals. Each quarter, I find reviewing my work gives me data to help me design my next step.
Second Quarter Review:
One thing that surprised me was the different levels of progress I made, which I shared in Week 17: My Poet’s Path BYOB Challenge: Blogging your own book of poetry.
A Deeper Dive into the Second Quarter Review: Branding, Social Media and Community
One pillar I’m always working on is supporting and building my community. Despite having limited time for the BYOB Challenge, I squeezed in some time to refine my branding, support my community, and build a social media presence. My goal was to post one to two times a week.
My Second Quarter Review: Social Media
Here’s what happened in the second quarter of my BYOB challenge from Week 17 post:
- Instagram growth:
First quarter: Posts went from 111 to 130= about a 17% growth
Second quarter: Posts went from 130 to 140= nearly an 8% growth
Growth from January to June: 25% - Followers went from 393 to 403= about a 2.5% growth
Second quarter: went from 403 to 410= nearly 2%
Growth from January to June: 4.5%
