Recently, I went to a new Chick-fil-A and ordered a large Kale Crunch Salad but received a small one instead.

Previously, I ordered the same-sized salad at another location within the same state.

When I asked the server about it, he said that different franchises have variations in menu items and portion sizes, and this can even include entirely different menu items.

For instance, the server informed me that some Chicago Chick-fil-A franchises offer fried chicken strips, which may not be available at other locations.

This experience reminded me that fast food chains like Chick-fil-A are franchises, meaning they are independently owned and operated.

Franchisees have the autonomy to tweak their menu to suit local needs, which can result in differences in menu offerings and portion sizes.
