Yesterday’s nostalgia offering was Patsy Cline’s 1961 rendition of the Willie Nelson song, “Crazy.” (Here). It was considered one of the signature songs for both Patsy and Willie.

The story behind the song is actually quite interesting. It was 1961 and Willie Nelson was struggling to establish himself as a singer/songwriter.

He was having difficulty getting “Crazy” recorded by a mainstream artist.

His country singer friend, Billy Walker, suggested that he pitch it to Patsy Cline who had already had several hits in the country music scene.

Because it was not in the style of her other country hits, Patsy’s producer resisted her recording it. But, Patsy insisted.

And you know the rest of the story:
“Crazy” was a massive success for both Patsy and Willie.

Doesn’t nostalgia warm your heart?
