Build a dhow
Continuing my challenge, I’m taking you to discover the Sultanate of Oman today, a magnificent country still untouched by mass tourism and whose warm welcome by the locals impressed me.
Sur is the capital city of Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate on the coast of the Gulf of Oman.
Before traveling, reading Sindbad the Sailor enabled me to start the trip to Oman. Indeed, the first voyage of Sinbad took place in Oman, and I enjoyed imagining some adventures in the port of Sur.
Even today, this location is ideal for sailors.
There, I discovered the making of a dhow, a ship used to carry heavy items for trade. Construction is carried out outdoors, probably using the same methods as in the past.
You can imagine how impressive it was to witness such a handiwork!
