Many moons ago, The Doge NFT’s Bark Tank Council approved a much wow proposal: sponsor a collection of puppet NFTs and build the world’s first Doge Puppet. Welp, the time has finally arrived to reveal all.

The proposal was submitted by Nick Pages-Oliver, in collaboration with Spare Parts Puppet Theatre.

Who, what, where?!

So, you know The Doge NFT, right? No? Really? *sigh* Ok, have a look at this first then.
Up to date now?

In case you cheated, here’s a tl;dr…

Sure, but who are these Spare Parts peeps?

Some puppet people: Bec Bradley (puppeteer), Louise Coghill (photographer), Nick Pages-Oliver (producer)

Spare Parts Puppet Theatre (SPPT) is based in Fremantle, Western Australia, and they’ve been making award-winning, world class shows for over 40 years.

Artistic Director, Philip Mitchell, pulling some strings lol

Arts funding is hard to secure anywhere in the world, so SPPT have embraced web3 and leant into the wild world of NFT fundraising!

“As an organisation, we always do our best to be innovative and embrace the new. NFTs present a way to engage with new audiences globally, but also a way to support and collaborate with our artists who we work with every day. We have no idea where this first collection might take us, but we are excited by the opportunity” — Philip Mitchell, AD

Nick Pages-Oliver is a long time collaborator with SPPT and an independent theatre maker. He’s also held altcoin bags since 2017, so knows his way around the blockchain.

Working with designer Leon Hendroff, puppet maker Jackson Harrison, and photographer, Louise Coghill, Nick oversaw the creation of SPPT’s first NFT collection!

The collection contains Standard Edition (1/15), Special Edition (1/10) and Video Edition (1/5) NFTs, and they have properties such as the style of puppet they are, and which show they appeared in.

Ok, so The Doge NFT sponsored a collection of puppet NFTs. Pour Quoi?

Apart from being a gorgeous doggo, the Doge NFT comes with some “values” attached

  • Do Only Good Every Day (D.O.G.E)
  • Self expression
  • Wholesomeness
  • Absurd comedy

The Bark Tank Council assesses grants submitted by real hoomins, who have much wow ideas to spread positivity, do good, and provide value for our treasured $DOG holders.

One of the first things they funded was The Doge Pixel Portal (which is being upgraded to 2.0 rn. Shhhhh!). This amaze portal lets you lock your $DOG, 55,240 of them to be exact, which is ~$56USD at time of writing, and in return, you get an actual pixel from the actual Doge NFT, minted as your own unique NFT. Here are the pixels on OpenSea. Look at all the pretty shades of yellow!

The Doge NFT team is committed to providing value for pixel holders. Let’s call them “Pixel Perks”. Your pixel is a first class ticket to entertainment and fun, online and IRL.

Remember how The Doge Puppet has been minted as NFTs?

Doge Puppet NFTs yo

Well these suckers ain’t for sale. You’ve gotta be a pixel holder and jump in The Doge NFT Discord to enter the raffle for one of them. (Do it now!)

But this project is more than a way to give perks to pixel holders. It is…

  • A way to support IRL art. SPPT is a not-for-profit theatre company, and all proceeds from NFT sales, as well as royalties from resales, go direct to the company so they can make more art and pay more creatives.
  • A delightful asset for The Doge NFT community with potential for much wow. The puppet belongs to The Doge NFT and is gonna be all over TikTok and Reddit reeeeaal soon. Just you wait, Henry Higgins.

Gimme the puppet pls…

Ok ok! Here’s some bts content from the build.

Aaaargh!

Here’s the thing. Making the world’s first Doge puppet is not easy, and along the way, changes had to be made. A prototype was built, but it needed alteration. So Doge 2.0 was built. Her mouth doesn’t open, but hey, maybe there will be more Doge Puppets made in the future? Maybe they will be even better than this one? If you want your very own Doge Puppet, maaaaaybe the kind designers and makers at Spare Parts could be convinced... but the price would have to be right. So let’s ( all us web3 degens) show SPPT some love first, by buying out their collection and telling all our friends to ape a dope puppet NFT.*

The words were painstakingly cut out of card, and then in the end, they were replaced by a text overlay in the edit, lol.

*BTW, the SPPT ppl have expressed no interest in making another Doge Puppet, so fr, the price would have to be “right” (i.e. a lot).

Just a boy and his Doge
