I recently wrote about the book cover trend of colorful blobs (“Return of the Blob”) and have been thinking about trends in book covers ever since.

She writes, “At mainstream publishers, the cover design process usually starts with the designer, who reads a manuscript, then puts together a cover option, or several, to present to the book’s editor.”

Besides a rainbow of blobs, 2022 has also introduced a new wave of orange books.

When you’re faced with the examples below, you’ll agree that orange was a hot color in publishing in 2022 (and recent years).
