How will Renewable Energy Resources be Controlled?

In the article, The Business of Rich Solar Renewable Energy it is shown how renewable energy sources may become exploited by many big businesses and governments around the world. They talk about how renewable energy sources have increased in demand and they believe that within the next decade they will be used all over the world. This sector of business is relatively new and with a newfound pressure to start using these resources, it will lead to exploitation.

Will Renewable Energy Sources Only be for the Rich?

Many companies who use finite resources are starting to invest in renewable energy sources. These companies are usually quite large and hold a lot of power in their respective industries. “The influx of decentralized energy startup enterprises has contributed to this magnificent rise in the demand for Renewable Energy Resources (RER). This has allowed for more participation from the finite-energy resource-dependent corporations.” (Peer-to-Peer Energy Protocol, 2018) In other words, this increased demand has caught the eye of corporations. They are interested in making money and therefore will invest in renewable energy and make as much money as possible. This will likely be positive for the economy and the planet, as it will lead to economic growth and a decreased use of finite resources. According to the blog, “Energy trading platforms based on decentralized economies have bolstered the spread of renewable energy ideologies and expanded adoption.” (Peer-to-Peer Energy Protocol, 2018) This means that although big companies may have more power over renewable energy sources in the future, they are planning to create an energy trading system that will allow small companies to still have accessibility to renewable energy sources.

Where do we Get Most of Our Renewable Energy?

This blog helped answer my question of which renewable energy source was the most abundant and would be the most influential in the future of business. According to the blog it is solar energy, which makes up a great amount of the renewable energy sources available to us and it can be stored and saved. According to the blog, “Though only about 48% of the solar radiation reaching the earth is absorbed by the earth’s surface, it is observed that an average of 23 million gigawatts worth of power can, in theory, be exploited on the surface. This amount far exceeds all other renewable sources and if stored can outdo finite energy resources.” (Peer-to-Peer Energy Protocol, 2018) In other words, solar energy will be the main source of energy for the future and will provide us with the bulk of our renewable energy. If governments can work together to store the solar energy and divide it amongst themselves and the public, we will be in a good place to completely end the use of finite resources, not just in business practices but in all areas of life.

As the sector of renewable resources grows, so will the competition for them. It is important to keep in mind that these resources need to become the norm and should not be controlled solely by corporations.
