‘Content is king’ they said.

Whether you like it or not, content will still be a core piece of most of your funnels. Whether it be long-form evergreen content, listicle type social viral content, or the classic opt-in bait.

BUT — You make your content, you publish it, you push it through your channels waiting for internet fame. Bish bash poof, you only get 200 views.

Wait, what? Yes, your friends that you thought would share it, didn’t. It didn’t make it big on Reddit. All of your Tribe just gave it a glance.

Okay, let’s fix that.

Leveraging Influencers

Ask yourself, what would you do if someone wrote a post and included you in it? Well?

You’d likely share it.

Everyone likes being flattered, even those with 50k followers on Twitter. The good news it, we can utilize their networks.

Method + Example

Firstly let’s define our post.

  • What is the goal of the post?
  • What industry is it in?
  • Who are the key influencers?
  • What you’re writing about, is someone already doing it well?
  • Did you learn from someone, use a course?
  • Who does your target audience follow?

Short list the influencers you collected.

Next, define what type of content this is, this will help you know how many and what type of influencers to include.

Evergreen — This is the value-added content. Usually long form, original to an extent. More like an article.

EOP — Eyes on page. This is your ‘clickbaity’ piece. ‘How I went from X to Y and how you can too’. ‘What I learnt from spending $2 Trillion on FB ads’ and so on.

SV — Social Viral content. Think Buzzfeed listicles. ’10 ways to build your funnel’. ’17 pros methods on using Google Search Ads’.

Each one will allow varying amount of influencers to be included without devaluing the content. Evergreen may only need 1 or 2. SV may have one influencer for each point. The latter could prove hugely socially viable.

Writing the Influencer in and getting them to see it

Here’s an example of how I actually do this:

For those too lazy to click on the link

First of all, be genuine. The goal here is to get them to share your content. Ultimately if you’re jut trashing them or writing about them in a bad tone, or something they don’t align themselves with, they’re simply not going to share it.

Secondly, give them a shout out. Include links to where you think they want traffic. Think about it. If they share your post, they’re now subtly sharing their own content/funnel also. It’s win win!

Thirdly, link to their social accounts. This shows you’re willing to send your users/tribe/readers/traffic straight into their reach and ecosystem.

Getting that share

You’ve got the content, you’ve written the influencer(s) into your post. What’s next? Well, you have to get the content in front of them.

Identify where they’re active. You should already know when identifying the audiences they have reach in. Twitter? Their own Blog? FB?

In any case, reach out through 2 mediums. No more than 2 so as to not harass them.

Simply say something such as ‘Hey, I wrote you into my latest post and love your work, take a look’. If it’s over a private medium, such as email, ensure them that you’re happy to include any other links they want to promote or edit the post if they’re not 100% happy.

Success!

If all goes well, you’ve just exponentially increased your reach.
