Unlike many professions, you don’t have to be clever or reasonable to become a lottery winner. You only have to play and be lucky.

While it should be mandatory for lottery winners to receive financial education, it’s not. And lottery money is so life-changing that staying rich and avoiding bankruptcy is difficult.

Many sources quote a study from The National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE). According to the “study,” 70% of lottery winners go bankrupt within a few years. But it’s a hoax!! NEFE even released a statement on the topic. “This statistic is not backed by research from NEFE, nor can it be confirmed by the organization.

However, another study by the Institute for Research showed that an estimated 35% of lottery winners lose everything within nine years, and another 17 to 24% spent more than they should have.
