A crowd of unruly, uneducated townspeople turned their back on Jesus Christ over the weekend. The local citizens clamored for the notorious criminal Barabbas.

Barabbas was found guilty on 34 counts, with more illegal activities and trials still pending. At the local rally this weekend, the choice was clear: choose the infamous criminal or Jesus Christ.

Barabbas said it was a rigged system, and the onlookers believed every word he said — hook, line and sinker. Barabbas asked for total immunity, and the others were glad to oblige.

Governor Pontius Pilate was offering a total and unequivocal pardon, but to just one man. Who should get their sentence commuted? The man who was deceitful his whole public life or Jesus Christ?

Barabbas took part in an insurrection, but no one seemed to care. The crimes Barabbas committed seemed to be an asset more than a liability to his rabid fan base.

The crowd could be heard to say, ‘His blood be on us and on our children’, to which Barabbas snidely added, ‘blood coming out of her wherever’. He was looking at a townswoman as he said that, for whatever reason.

At the end of this rally, to the dismay of this reporter, the crowd chose Barabbas to be set free. Barabbas got the pardon he’s been asking for this whole time.

Though Governor Pilate gave the pardon, he told everyone, “I am innocent of this Man’s blood; you yourselves shall see.” Followers of Jesus hoped the Governor would do the right thing at the last minute, but Barabbas cheated the system again.

People who attended the rally claimed to have strong values, but clearly they turned their back on those, along with Jesus. How people could worship a life-long criminal and not Jesus is beyond me.
