Table of Contents for Issue I of The Hedgehog

We are proud to present to you the very inaugural issue of The Hedgehog Literary Journal for Youth. The first issue features an array of poetry and fiction submissions by Brian Li, Hao Lun Li, Melody Xiong, Richard Mou, Derrik Lu, Zack Wang, Joseph Fan.

Mission Statement

The Hedgehog Literary Journal for Youth is a forum devoted to publishing poems, short fiction, articles, essays, photography, new media, interviews, and art by talented youth. It is sponsored by AHAcademy, which is a global organization dedicated to teaching and youth education, run by experienced students at Harvard University.

Forward and List of Contributors (Section 1)

The first section introduces the writers who describe their work in key phrases, and offer advice on “Why They Write” and helpful suggestions for future contributors planning to submit to the journal.

Poetry Collection (Section 2)

The second section includes free verse poetry by contributing writers. From naturalistic poems that describe the state of nature and the stars to personal poems about loss and losing oneself, the collection displays the sensitivities and the free-wheeling imagination of youth. The section also features poetry by guest contributor Woojin Lim.

Fiction Collection (Section 3)

The third and final section presents flash fiction and fairy tales, including tales of soldiers longing to return home from the war, to adventures in space-time, and the first chapter of a mysterious action-adventure series set in ancient China. Rich in descriptive detail, the short fiction pieces will want you asking for more.
