It’s been raining for most of the week here in the Netherlands. But staying indoors doesn’t have to be boring! Just look at these innovations in education that make you want to spend more time indoors! Innovative technology such as augmented reality and virtual reality can make education more entertaining, and yes, simply better!

Famous podcaster CGP Grey shares his thoughts on the future of education, which according to him can only benefit from the Internet. He says that it would be great if every student had access to a teacher like Aristotle, but that such personalized and expert tuition is not possible according to the reasons stated in the image above. However, the (close to) omnipotent Internet might offer a solution…

Digital classroom in a box

This easy-to-use BRCK Kio Kit turns any classroom into a digital learning environment. It connects a class (within range of a mobile phone) to the Internet, or otherwise provide locally hosted content to the Kio tablets within the box. There’s a single plug used to charge the Kit and one button to power on the entire system. They are currently active in 12 countries, from Mexico to Kenya.

Spot on! Here’s a very clear example of how the Microsoft HoloLens can help students of anatomy to learn in more detail about the inner workings of the human body. Would be great if this technology also came available for the general public, in museums or in combination with a MOOC!
