Life is a Lesson

From the day that we’re born, life teaches its ways,
Filled with smiles and tears, joys and lonely days.
We learn as we grow up, little by little each day,
Discovering new things come what may.

In school, we study hard, gaining knowledge aplenty
Absorbing old lessons, looking to lessons new routinely.
We read, write and explore, letting minds freely roam,
Expanding our views far from home.

But beyond books, life gives the best lessons of all,
Shaping our souls as on its currents we fall.
Through friendships and struggles, we learn life’s true charms,
The strength of compassion, the warmth of kind arms.

We feel love’s sweet bliss and its bitterest throes,
Grasping empathy’s might from others’ woes.
With kin folk beside us each step of our way,
We find life’s true meaning day after day.

When sorrows darken our paths, we find inner will,
Picking ourselves up where’er we may spill.
Every fall lifts our spirits, every struggle makes us wise,
Finding in failure the strength that fortifies.

In this learning called life, as the years slip fleetly past,
Let’s embrace each moment and lesson to the last.
All it brings, however sweet or however hard,
Will shape who we are and how far we’ve come this far.
