New Mental Health Collective Partnership! Gamifying Mental Health and Spreading Positivity
Meemos World is a 6,666-piece NFT collection centered around mental health education and positivity. Its two founders, Derek and Clarissa, connected over mental health challenges and set out to make mental health accessibility more fun!
In February 2022, they minted and sold out. Today, their community is FULL of positivity. Discord activities, uplifting posts, and gratitude challenges from the team are common. They also recently hosted an IRL event in Singapore.
Their signature sunflower 🌻 can be taken in many ways. I see it as a symbolic reminder to always focus on the bright side of things.
But their primary goal was to build a “gamified mental health support” app.
Meemos App
Mental Health Gamification: Using evidence-based principles from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and habit-forming behavioral science, their app encourages users to journal their thoughts and mood easily.
Participation is then rewarded by leveling up and increasing the bond between users and their Meemos companion. Users can then filter through their past entries and identify patterns and develop coping strategies in a fun way.
The app looks great thanks to several updates and changes, many based on community feedback. The team also does a fantastic job of regularly updating their Discord community on the app’s progress.
It's my understanding that the app is still in beta but based on some of their recent announcements, it looks promising.
The Art
There’s more to the Meemos besides being eye-catching and extremely cute.
Meemo’s World and its founders drew inspiration from Ikigai, the Japanese concept of finding purpose in life.
Meemos are creatures motivated by finding their purpose. Each grows their unique Maha, an external representation of who they are internally. As Meemos get closer to learning more about themselves, their Maha begins to grow.
Meemos have different stages of Maha on top of their head. Some have underdeveloped Mahas, or “stubs,” and some have bigger ones, expanding to their greatest Mahas.
Meemos Updates
Meemos App: Goal setting and Goal tracking were recently added, along with an ability to earn Maha Dust, an in-game currency, for completing these goals.
Users can now measure and compare their activity to other users with a new Rankings tab.
Instagram: Meemos have focused most of their marketing efforts on Instagram. Considering the current NFT bear market, perhaps a wise onboarding strategy. Only time will tell.
There, with the help of behavioral strategists, they consistently share carefully curated messages that promote comfort, mental health education, and positivity.
Their following is steadily growing, and they recently had a Reel that surpassed 1 Million views!
