The Rise of Bitropolis

From customization to hairstyles, here’s where we are in the Bitizens development process

Greetings, Guildmates!

Earlier this year, we set out on a quest to create a large world within a vast digital space on the blockchain. Even so, one of our main focuses must always be on a much smaller, yet vital, component to that space. We, as players, will interact within that world and everyone else within it through the Bitizen, the digital you on the BitGuild platform. With an emphasis on the you, we continue to refine and improve the quality of the Bitizen and however you might want that you to be represented.

Bitizen Customization

Let’s take a look at the deepening layers of customization. Because we ultimately felt that the look of your Bitizen’s face is just as important as the clothes they wear, we’ve expanded the feature to include the ability to morph your character’s face in very specific ways.

We will now allow players to modify placement of specific facial features as well as customize their sizes.

In this image we’re testing out a new idle animation while showcasing some of those facial transformations within the creator screen.

Hair

We all know that hairstyles are one of the most defining features for people. These, along with other facial feature customization options, are going to be content that we will be adding regularly to the game.

Front…
…and back.

(I get the feeling that the ‘fro is going to be one of our popular options.)

Outfits

In my last post I showed you a pirate outfit that TJ was working on. He completed the full model shortly afterward and the final details look quite good.

Now if we could just build a ship…

And of course, what would a world be without ninja outfits?

On the 2D side, an increased outflow of novelty and fantasy-styled clothing are coming down the pipe. One of our concept artists, Amanda, has been putting together a very cute pinafore outfit for example.

JP, another recent addition to the team, has been putting together sketches for one of our Legendary-classed items, Warrior of the Rising Sun.

Your Bitizen, Your City

To fully execute the vision of the game, it was critical that there existed a concept that could scale alongside the growth of the Bitizen and scope of the design. These points were very key in defining a place that would host our digital citizens:

  • Scalability
  • Growth
  • Community
  • Vastness
  • Potential
  • Investability
  • Familiarity

And so came the creation of this…

This image is an early concept that I feel encompasses the vision of a city made entirely for the Bitizen. We’ve been playfully calling it Bitropolis, but the name is definitely sticking.

To further this vision, it was critical to ensure that the motivations we were providing to each player character made sense: Come to this city for the opportunity, and know that you will also be contributing to its growth and prosperity. This is at the core of our gameplay and the idea behind Bitzens.
