Live in the Arena

If you hide in your cave, never producing your life’s work, regardless of what that may be, are you really living?

If you never enter into relationships with people in which you will get hurt often, are you really living?

If you never venture into the plethora of unknowns in life, are you really living?

Okay, enough with the IF questions already.

Life is going to be messy. You will fall and get scrapes, bruises, cuts, and frequently bloodied. Your heart will ache over rejection and broken relationships. But it is only through living in the arena that you will truly feel alive. We learn through our successes and defeats in life’s arena. No one desires to get hurt and bloodied, which is not the only outcome unless you’re a pessimist. But the thought of adverse outcomes prevents so many from truly living.

We cannot selectively numb emotions, when we numb the painful…
