Do it right, and they will tell the world

James Franco in the Ballad of Buster Scruggs

One of my favorite ice breakers with a new or potential client is offering the free demonstration. After evaluating if the situation is appropriate, I often joke with them that “I’m like your PEMF dealer, first time’s free.”

The free demo is exactly what it sounds like. A demo. Not a full session. In May, I wrote about the importance of following the General Protocol; The general protocol has no business in a free demo. Do not perform the entire thing. Always leave them wanting more time on the machine. The General Protocol is very important when we are attempting to make progress with our clients or patients. During a free demo, you are giving a preview of the results they can achieve.

When performing a demo, always leave them wanting more time on the machine.

The free demo is a no-risk, getting-to-meet-you opportunity to show your client or patient what the PER 2000 is capable of. Follow the steps below to ensure your success:

Step 1: Choose the right applicator!

For the demo, the last thing we want to do is scare our potential client with the strength of a PER 2000. Less is more here. We do not reccomend the backpack attachment for the free demo, unless the primary pain is in the extremities, and the patient is less than 65 years old. Older patients tend to favor the softer attachments. You can’t go wrong with the standard coil for your free demo.

Standard Coil (4-turn)

Step 2: Identify the primary pain concern.

Often I meet people who say they “Can you just put it everywhere?”. These people are a chicken or the egg scenario, and you have to unpack where their original problem started. The closer to the core of the body you can get for the free demo, the more effective your demo will be. If you work on a secondary or tertiairy pain before the primary pain, your demo will not be as impressive. Do your best to identify the original problem area. It usually exists in the core of the body, for example the low back or the shoulder.

The closer to the core of the body you can get for the free demo, the more effective your demo will be.

Step 3: Introduce them to the machine the same way you would perform Position 1 of the General Protocol.

Have the patient or client hold the standard coil with their arms extended in front of them and turn the machine on. Ask them to lower the coil slowly towards their chest so they can feel the pulse. The pulse should not cause discomfort in this position except under some circumstances, like a broken clavicle. Adjust accordingly. Once they seem accustomed to the pulse, immediately move to the area of concern.

Step 4: Box the problem area (Positions 4–7 of the General Protocol)

Spend 1 minute for each angle with the HD and 2 minutes for each angle with the Mini. That equates to a maximum of 5 minutes with the HD or 10 minutes with the Mini. Do not spend any more time on your free demonstration than this. We cannot impress this enough. The free demo is a demo, not a full session.

Some areas may be more sensitive than others, and with the PER 2000, an inch goes a mile. Be sure to “search” for “the spot” over each angle here. It is important at in at least 1–2 of the minimum 4 angles are we are able to locate and pulse “the spot”.

Your patient will feel the effects of the PER 2000 enough to decide if they would like to purchase a package of sessions from you. Schedule them for their full sessions after this. Send them home wanting more time on the machine.
