Because white-feminist, temporarily able-bodied/minded, cis, hetero or bi-curious, Euro witchcraft is not the only witchcraft out there.

Because witch spaces should be fucking inclusive, intersectional, and culturally humble (that’s me also looking at you, revisionist Euro crafts).

Because my witchcraft is not the only witchcraft. Because your witchcraft is not the only witchcraft.

Because this “love and light is all we need,” “think positive thoughts and everything will be okay,” “you attract what you think,” ascension-style, ignoring-racism/ableism/transphobia/ageism, body-shaming, health-shaming, income-shaming spirituality shit has to go.

Because some witches actually enjoy being human on this plane and want to deal with the fucked up shit in the world to make this plane a better one.

Because social equity, earth justice, and a spiritual path cannot be separated from one another.

So, my favorite boss witch, and I are putting together a new Medium publication called WITCHES RISE. The first edition is coming out in about two weeks. (If you’re interested in submitting, you still have about a week to submit, and this edition’s theme is PROTECTION.)

It’s a labor of love and revolt, and we want you in on it in any way you like. We’re publishing editions when we can with different themes, and then articles of varying themes in between. Submissions for editions can look like prose, poetry, how-tos, recipes, personal essays/experiences, photography, rituals, tarot, book reviews, and more. We just want realness, and we want voices that represent all of humanity; not just whitewashed, binary ones.

What’s our definition of “witch”? Someone who combines the worlds of magic and reality, spirituality and mundanity into one organism.

Since Medium publications get no press outside of that which we can amass on our own, my only request of you is that you follow us and share us if you’re into what we’re doing, or if you have loved ones who would be into what we’re doing.

Join us, hey?

Love,
N
