The NHS provides more than just medical treatment.

There has been a lot of negative news about our national health service lately.

It is true that the NHS has many problems and many people say it is on the point of collapse. They have been saying this for many years, but it keeps staggering on, and this year it celebrating its seventy-fifth birthday.

Although it is far from perfect, it still provides a very good service and sometimes it goes the extra mile, and I can vouch for this.

Several years ago, I had to undergo some treatment that meant daily visits to a hospital. When this treatment ended, I had to have regular blood tests.

On two occasions, the treatment and blood tests fell on my birthday.

On both occasions the NHS staff sang “Happy birthday to you.”

How much extra would you have to pay for that on an insurance policy?
