Psalm 114 — Like Lambs

A Ballad

--

Two white lambs lie in the grass in a field. A third lamb leaps into the air in the foreground.

O sea, what ails you that you fled?
O River, why reverse?
The mountains leapt about like goats,
The hills like lambs dispersed.

We shed our chains and left the land
Where we had been strangers;
You led us through the barren wilds
And kept us from dangers.

The rock became a crystal pool,
A fountain fresh and clean
For water in the wilderness:
The desert turned to green.

The earth will tremble in Your sight,
O God Who dwells in flame,
The trees and mountains bow before
The splendour of Your Name.

O sea, what ails you that you fled?
O River, why reverse?
The mountains leapt about like goats,
The hills like lambs dispersed.

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
