Psalm 119 א ALEPH— Do Not Forsake Me

Blessed are the blameless ones
Who never wander from the way,
Who go for God with gusto great,
Who walk with You and will not stray.

Oh, that my soul was set on You,
To keep Your statutes, to spurn sin.
If I were but blameless and bright,
My Father would not forsake me.

But I am shamed and shaken by
The way they weaponize Your Word.
Unsteady where I stand, I sing
Despite distress and damning words.

I’d praise You with a perfect heart
And carry out all Your commands
If I were perfect, proper, pure:
I’d hide within Your holy hands.
