I am bent and unassuming,
Generous and kind.
I bow and lean into Your tenets,
Humbly so inclined.

The haughty have dug pits for me,
But I will hope in You.
They persecute me wrongfully
God, help me! You are true.

When the busy day is done,
I lay my spent head down,
And when the end of life is come,
You give to me a crown.

My soul is faint for Your salvation;
When will You revive?
I am a wineskin made of vapour;
Am I still alive?

Yet I give thanks for heat and light,
For flames upon the hearth,
And I give thanks for work and rest,
For everything on Earth.

And when the busy day is done,
I lay my spent head down,
And when the end of life is come,
You give to me a crown.
