Psalm 130 — You Are My Safe Place

I am drowning.
Hear me, God!
Have mercy on my soul.
O my God, if You documented
A catalogue of every single sin,
Who could stand?

I wait for You,
O my Love;
My soul and spirit yearn for You,
Ache for You,
More than the sun longs for the dawn,
More than the grass craves the rain.

You are my Light
When I’m lost in the night.
O God, lead me home;
You are my safe place.

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a Canadian queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
