Psalm 142 — Be My Escape

Refuge has failed me
In the sanctuary;
My spirit faints.

They look away;
They disavow me;
No one knows me;
I am stigma.

Will You give heed to me, O Love?
Be my escape,
Deliver me,
For my enemy is stronger than I.

They come against me from all sides
With darts of shame and spite,
But You, God, are my shield.

Break me out of prison,
That I may stand with You,
For You know my every step,
And You are my home.

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a Canadian queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
