Psalm 148 — Oh Heavens of Heavens

A La’Libertas Poem

--

Foreground is all water. Across the water is a mountain below a dark sky, lit up purple by a fork of lightning striking the mountaintop.

Lightning bolts and hail and rain;
Snow and storms and biting wind;
Mountains, hills, and trees strong limbed;
Grasses, flowers, golden grain:

They sing and dance
and clap their hands
with sun and moon and stars alight,
for You have set them up
forever:
They shall not pass away.

Cattle, beasts, and creeping things;
Men and women, grand, mundane;
Children, elders, formal, plain:
All of these You’ve given wings.

There is no Jew;
there is no Greek,
there is no slave nor free,
there is no male
and no female;
for all are one in You.

Louez le Seigneur,
cieux des cieux!
