Psalm 150 — Hallelujah
A Kyrielle
If I am in the sanctuary,
And they ask me to withdraw,
There I will face my adversary,
To my last breath, cry “Hallelujah!”
When I look up toward the heavens,
I do not ponder doctrine, dogma;
With overwhelming awe and passion,
My every breath sings “Hallelujah!”
O Love, I’ll sing a song of ardour
On trumpet, harp, piano, tuba:
Devotion, zeal, all out of order,
And every note is “Hallelujah!”
Then every exile will join with me:
Song and colour, dance and drama,
And all of it to You is beauty
When every tongue cries, “Hallelujah!”
Thank you to Leonard Cohen for his beautiful poem “Hallelujah” — echoes of which snuck in here before I noticed.
