On Thursday, August 31st, STHS celebrated the end of its first month back with an energetic pep rally.

Taking place from 3:25 to 4:15 during the Ravens’ Nest period, the event was abuzz with thrilling announcements and introductions, setting an enthusiastic tone for the school year ahead.

Following the last period of the day, scholars from all grade levels eagerly converged in the gym, a palpable sense of anticipation in the air. A sea of blue was evident as numerous teachers sported their New Sci-Tech High School t-shirts, a testament to their school pride.

Junior Bryden B. was particularly animated about the day’s events.

“The juniors made the games so much more exciting! We brought the hype, not the seniors!” he exclaimed.

And indeed, the juniors emerged victorious, clinching the spirit stick and earning a dress-down day the following Tuesday after Labor Day.

Many scholars like Bryden felt that the pep rally was a true display of STHS spirit.

The cheer team delivered a performance that had attendees on their feet, while grade-level games, like the balloon-popping relay, kept the excitement going.

Yet, amidst all the fun, a mystery lingered: who was the person behind the Raven mascot? The suspense only added to the event’s allure. The true identity behind the raven remains to be seen.

Following the pep rally introduction and a performance by the school cheer squad, Charles T., a senior, took a moment to address his peers.

Even with a lost voice, he passionately urged students from all grades to join the Student Council. His determination was evident in every raspy word.

Those in attendance appreciated, despite his vocal limitations, his invitation to join the Student Council and a roaring cheer from the audience was noticed by most scholars in attendance.

The spotlight then shifted to this year’s Peer Forward group. Seniors Allegría, Haannia, Leo, and Daisy who introduced the Peer Forward leadership initiative and elaborated on their crucial roles within the school community.

This group of scholars had a chance to visit New York and get training in peer leadership. Read about in our article: “Four Sci-Tech High School Scholars Attend PeerForward Leadership Training in New York.”

Let’s make sure to give special thanks to Ms. Cox who masterfully hosted the rally, ensuring everything went off without a hitch.

With such a dynamic beginning, the student body is abuzz with anticipation for more pep rallies and surprises in the upcoming months.
