After setting the NFL on fire both on and off the field this past Sunday, former WKU quarterback and current New York Jet Mike White was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week in NY’s win over Cincinnati this past week.

White, who got the start after Jets starter Zach Wilson suffered a PCL injury the previous week, threw for 405 yards on 37-of-45 passing for three touchdowns and a 107.9 QB rating.

The former Hilltopper inked his name in the record books by becoming the second quarterback in NFL history to throw for more than 400 yards in his first career start (Cam Newton, 2011). His 405 yards on Sunday was the most by a Jet signal caller since Vinny Testaverde in 2000.

New England defensive back Adrian Phillips garnered the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Week honor.

With Wilson still sidelined for this coming week, White is set to start in primetime against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday.
