On Sunday afternoon, Western Kentucky Football’s recruiting momentum continued as Bluffton, South Carolina wide receiver Shamar Sandgren committed to the 2020 class

Sandgren is a 6' 0 170 lb wide receiver from Bluffton, South Carolina. He is rated as a 2-star player by Rivals. Sandgren held FBS offers from Coastal Carolina, Charlotte & Georgia State. Here are his junior year highlights

According to Maxpreps, Sandgren hauled in 31 catches for 404 yards and four touchdowns during his junior year on a Bluffton team that went 6–5 on the year. Sandgren also played cornerback but projects as a receiver in college.

Wide Receiver is a position of need moving forward as Lucky Jackson, Quin Jernighan & Marcus Floyd are all set to exhaust their eligibility in 2019.

WKU has done a great job recruiting the Palmetto state recently. Sandgren is the 5th player from the state to come to WKU including junior quarterback Steven Duncan, junior defensive back LA Rogers-Anderson, redshirt freshman offensive lineman Gunner Britton & incoming freshman tight end Joshua Simon. Defensive line coach, Jimmy Lindsey continues to shine in that talent-rich region (along with Georgia).

After a slow start, recruiting has finally started to gather momentum with two commitments in back to back days (after Colt Jackson’s commitment on Saturday). WKU has had a flurry of visitors and offers come down across twitter the past few weeks. It will be interesting to see who’s next.
