Basketball Players Take a Knee

We saw it at the ESPYs, when WNBA players wore black warm-up T-shirts, again when Dwyane Wade’s cousin Nykea Aldridge was killed, and now that Colin Kaepernick’s and others’ protests have taken root in the NFL, it seems we’ll be seeing action taken during the NBA season & WNBA postseason as well. Before tonight’s Indiana Fever-Phoenix Mercury playoff game, the entire Fever squad and two Mercury players knelt:

Several NBA players, including Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade, spoke out about the death of Terence Crutcher, and Iman Shumpert has pledged to donate money for every steal he makes this season to families affected by police brutality.

World Cup of Hockey Shade

After Team USA lost to Team Canada Tuesday night, snubbed player and goal-scorer (which they really could have used) Phil Kessel sent out this tweet:

Some of the team’s current players weren’t so happy, but we’re thinking this was directed more at team management for not picking him in the first place (even though he likely couldn’t have played since he recently had surgery on his hand).
