No One

No one really talks about what happens if you’re sick and you don’t get better; but you don’t die either. You get to live in the margins because it’s either/or. You’re either getting sick or you’re getting better. There’s no in between in our culture or Society. No room for the Chronically Ill.

Sometimes

I am not sure if it’s just me or everyone with Chronic Illness who feels like this but lately it seems like the more strides towards acceptance of my life as it is now, there seems to always be someone right next to me who doesn’t hesitate to try and ruin the strides I have taken.

No One

Discrimination

I’ve seen it everywhere i look. people being discriminated for who they are, what they wear, if they are pregnant or married young. so many different reason. but, more recently, I’ve seen and heard people being discriminated for having mental and physical illnesses

My Illness Is Not In My Head, Or My Fault

There have been more people in my life than I can count who, when learning about my illness or disabilities, say the phrase ‘It’s all in your head’ or better yet ‘Try ___, then you will feel better and be cured.’

The Words We Use

Since being diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis, Endometriosis and Pelvic Floor along with Depression and Anxiety, I feel like most people have stopped seeing me. They seem to only see the disabled girl with Chronic pain and diseases that have no cure.
