#13: Korpiklaani
If there’s such a thing as “happy metal”, Korpiklaani’s wild style might just fit right in.

Korpiklaani is one those bands i first listened to that got me hooked on folk metal. Their heavy, accordion-fiddle infused music, particularly those fast polka-ish/humppa-ish tracks, almost always have a positive and festive feel and effect. It’s kind of refreshing to immerse one’s self from time to time in music such as Korpiklaani’s in order to take a break from the darker, more aggressive or solemn kinds of metal.
Besides the accordion and violin, the band also uses other folk instruments like flutes and strings
Favorite Albums:
- Tervaskanto (2007) — the very first album I listened to
- Tales Along this Road (2006) — basically, every other album after it :)))
Favorite Songs:
- Running With the Wolves (Tervaskanto)
- Happy Littler Boozer (Tales Along this Road), and every other song about alcohol like Let’s Drink, Vodka, Bring Us Pints of Beer, etc.
