The band, on its own, has a distinct style — I find their use of thrash/power metal characteristics while incorporating West Asian maqams/melodies both fascinating and exhilarating. The resulting combination is glorious, perfected by the presence of folk instruments such as the doumbek and strings (sounds like an oud, but i’m not sure), flutes (ney?) among others. In the realm of oriental metal, Myrath’s music is top tier material in my book.
