#28: Equilibrium
On the fast-paced side of folk metal, I daresay that Equilibrium is one apex band.

When I was exploring European folk metal for the very first time (around 15 years ago haha), Equilibrium’s speedy style came as a sort of novelty. The elation that i got upon listening to Sagas (2008) intensified my curiosity and initial fascination for folk metal and drove me to explore even more.
Their style is power metal-like, coupled with distorted vocals, uplifting symphonic layers, occassional blast beats, and folk melodies, which are all fused so perfectly together in one ultra-epic sound that they can call their own.
Although they don’t have regular folk instrument players, they do mix in supplemental folk instruments in their recordings.
