There are many metal acts in the New World that adopt indigenous musical elements, but Cemican is one of the few that stand out. They go beyond using folk lyrical themes by playing actual ethnic instruments such as flutes, various percussions like drums and rattles, as well as chant-like vocals and the use of Nahuatl lyrics.

They also took their fusion a step further by incorporating the Australian didgeridoo, which surprisingly blends really well by adding to the frequent eeriness, sorrow, and also the occasional spiritual feeling evoked by the band’s music.
